One of the coolest bugs I've ever seen. It's hanging on this unidentified plant/weed that has nice red berries, but that most people tend to say they wouldn't eat. I myself wouldn't eat the berries, not even knowing what the plant is. I've pointed it out to several other people and they all agreed, "Noooo, I wouldn't eat those." And they don't even know what the plant is either. We still have some instinctual intelligence! I actually think the plant is in the nightshade family because it looks very similar to potatoes. And the beetle looks like some sort of Colorado beetle of some sort.

I've been in a pie/quiche making mode. It's been with steamed carrots, carmelized'ish onions, possibly a cut up piece of panfried bacon (inspired because the first one I made had no intention of being with bacon, but the cheese I bought from a roadside stand in rural New Jersey labeled as a horseradish cheese, must have been mislabeled, or else horseradish processed into cheese tastes incredibly like bacon), with a white wine de-glazed pan, tossed together with red wine vinegar, a handful of chopped fresh basil, maybe some parsley too, salt, pepper, and maybe some other spices, grated cheese sprinkled on top and a few halved cherry tomatoes to go around. The tomatoes are very good. This week was with broccoli because that's what was in the csa share!
